NCES Statement on COVID Mitigation Protocols

The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) recognizes that the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to pose significant challenges for schools, districts, and state agencies across the country, while also affecting us all personally. In order to collect data to fulfill NCES’ mission while protecting the health and safety of students and school staff, NCES has adopted COVID-19 mitigation protocols for its staff and representatives visiting schools.

NCES’ COVID-19 mitigation protocols have been developed using Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. Our guidelines meet or exceed CDC recommendations. These protocols are intended to be flexible to adapt to the changing landscape presented by COVID-19. NCES staff and representatives will work with schools, districts, and states to ensure that their COVID-19 protocols are also followed.
