NAEP Technical DocumentationState Assessment Normit Estimates for Grade 4

The normit tables were processed for the ten states that were jointly identified by Educational Testing Service (ETS) and Westat for quality control checks in the 2000 NAEP weighting process. These states included California, Connecticut, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, New York, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Texas.

The tables were processed for the R2 and R3 reporting populations for both grade 4 and 8 for mathematics. Reporting populations differ by whether accommodations were offered to students with disabilities or limited-English-proficient (SD/LEP) students. The non-accommodated reporting population, also known as the R2 reporting population, includes all non SD/LEP students plus SD/LEP students from non-accommodated sessions. The accommodated reporting population, also known as the R3 reporting population, includes all non SD/LEP students plus SD/LEP students from accommodated sessions.

The following tables display 2000 state mathematics assessment normit processing results by state, grade, and reporting population. Results were processed for ten states—California, Connecticut, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, New York, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Texas—jointly identified by ETS and Westat for quality control checks in the 2000 NAEP weighting process.

Reporting populations defined in the tables differ by whether accommodations were offered to disabled or limited English proficiency (SD/LEP) students.
