Variables Revised in PowerStats

NPSAS: 2008 Undergraduate

In the NPSAS:08 undergraduate PowerStats and DAS, a preliminary variable pertaining to subsidized Stafford loan borrowing (ESUBMX2) has been revised to include a more precise estimate of students who borrowed the maximum subsidized Stafford loan according to the program requirements and their individual loan eligibility. The individual subsidized maximum is the lesser of the Stafford loan program maximum or the individual’s financial need minus any grants.

Minor revisions were made to STAFCT1, STAFCT2, TXELIGR, JOBEARN, JOBEARN2, SJEARN, and RISKINDX. The variables for the amount earned through working while enrolled (JOBEARN, JOBEARN2, and SJEARN) were revised to include all undergraduates in the denominator (skips were recoded to zeros) and are now consistent with how they were programmed in NPSAS:04.
