Data Sources: Adult

NCES does not have a regular data collection that focuses specifically on CTE. Instead, the CTE Statistics program derives information about CTE primarily from existing NCES data collections that examine students, schools, teachers, and adults in general. Listed below are the main data collections that are used for the analysis of adults' preparation for work.

Adult Studies

Adult Training and Education Survey (ATES), of the National Household Education Surveys Program (NHES). Data from the ATES provide information on adults’ attainment of nondegree credentials—licenses, certifications, and postsecondary certificates—and on their completion of work experience programs, such as internships and apprenticeships.
