# Rounds to zero.
1 Instructional expenditures are current expenditures for activities directly associated with the interaction between teachers and students. These include teacher salaries and benefits, supplies (such as textbooks), and purchased instructional services.
NOTE: The universe for this table includes all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, four outlying areas (American Samoa, Guam, Northern Marianas, and the U.S. Virgin Islands), the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Department of Defense schools. Detail may not sum to totals because of rounding. Special education students or other students enrolled in private schools at the district's expense, and expenditures for these students, are not included in these percentages.
