State-by-state rankings

Do you have a state-by-state ranking of the quality of American schools?

Response:

NCES does not rank schools by student achievement; however, many states have statewide testing programs. Some states rank their schools and publish the results but others do not. NCES publishes results from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) and rates student performance nationally and state-by-state on various subject areas including the arts, civics, geography, mathematics, reading, science, U.S. history, writing, economics, and technology and engineering literacy.

In addition, the Fast Fact entitled State-level statistics provides information on publications that include state-by-state information on achievement, attainment, enrollment, finances and teachers at the elementary, secondary and postsecondary level.
