Harvard Strategic Data Project

Rebecca Marshall, Harvard Strategic Data Project

Since 2008, the Strategic Data Project at the Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University has helped PK12 and postsecondary agencies and systems transform their use of data to improve student outcomes. We've worked with 240+ organizations, providing capacity-building through our two-year fellowship and building a network of 500+ education data strategists. We've helped organizations answer strategic questions on topics like talent pipelines, evidence of impact, college-going, and more. We are also building a suite of P20W diagnostic tools to help states answer questions like: Which pathways in your state provide the highest earnings? What factors predict student success? Please see our website for more information: https://sdp.cepr.harvard.edu/

Integrating Data and Improving Outcomes with CIID

Lindsay Wise, Center for the Integration of IDEA Data

Come learn about how CIID's hands-on TA guides states through in-depth reviews of the source elements used to aggregate and populate OSEP's EDFacts files using the Common Education Data Standards (CEDS). With CEDS as a common data language, IDEA practitioners, data stewards, stakeholders and leaders have a shared understanding of the meaning of data elements and the information that data collections represent. States and jurisdictions can leverage the process of installing the Generate tool to establish new data governance practices and uncover data assumptions, using new tools to expand beyond their CIID engagement. Learn about how stronger data governance practices and higher confidence in data quality supports effective data-based decision making and ultimately improves academic outcomes for students with disabilities. Please see our website for more information: https://ciidta.communities.ed.gov/#program

Project Unicorn by InnovateEDU

Chloe Sanducci, Project Unicorn by InnovateEDU

Project Unicorn is an effort to improve data interoperability within K-12 education. We aim to create a community of innovators who make the broader case for secure interoperability by determining shared priorities, working in partnership with school systems and vendors to understand its importance and benefits, creating a demand-side push for interoperability through partnerships, and educating buyers to consider the total cost of ownership through informed comparison of vendors. We believe solving data interoperability challenges facing districts and schools is critical to ensuring that teachers have the information they need to do their jobs and innovate in instructional practices.
