Summary

State Profiles provides summary data on the 50 states, DC, and the outlying areas. The data that are reported are those most commonly used to present a thumbnail sketch of the resources, needs, organization, and special characteristics of education within a state. Data include: demographic characteristics, membership characteristics of schools and districts, grade levels in schools, urbanicity, number of students by race/ethnicity, high school completers, achievement levels of students, number and proportions of instructional, support services, and administrative staff, pupil-teacher ratio, teacher salary information, federal education aid to states, and revenue and expenditure information.
