The National Center for Research on Rural Education

• The National Center for Research on Rural Education identifies, develops, and validates professional development practices that lead to the delivery of improved instruction in rural schools and improve rural students’ acquisition of knowledge and skills in reading, science, and mathematics. The center was established in 2009 with funding from the Institute of Education Sciences at the U.S. Department of Education.

The National Research Center on Rural Education Support (NRCRES)

• The National Research Center on Rural Education Support (NRCRES) conducts a focused program of research to seek solutions to common problems in rural education, and thus increase the quality of services to children in rural communities. The NRCRES was established in 2004 with funding from the Institute of Education Sciences of the U.S. Department of Education.

Regional Educational Laboratories (REL)

RELs focus on using knowledge about effective procedures to transform low-performing schools into high-performing learning communities where all children achieve academically. RELs focus at least a quarter of their work on rural education issues
