1 Base year refers to the school year prior to the relevant TFS administration year.
2 Teaching experience includes total years of full-time and part-time teaching experience.
3 The 2000–01 TFS, 2003–04 SASS, and 2007–08 SASS allowed respondents to mark multiple race categories. Data presented for the 2000–01 TFS administration's race/ethnicity categories are different from the data presented in Teacher Attrition and Mobility: Results from the Teacher Follow-up Survey, 2000–01 (NCES 2004-301). This table presents the multiple response race/ethnicity data as reported in the 2000–01 TFS questionnaires (rather than the mutually exclusive categories offered in the 1999–2000 SASS teacher questionnaires).
NOTE: "Stayers" are teachers who were teaching in the same school in the current school year as in the base year. "Movers" are teachers who were still teaching in the current school year but had moved to a different school after the base year. "Leavers" are teachers who left the teaching profession after the base year. Detail may not sum to totals because of rounding and because all data are not shown.
