NOTE: Data are weighted estimates of the population. “Leavers” are principals in the SASS/NTPS school year who were no longer principals in the subsequent PFS school year. In the 2008–09 school year, 11.9 percent of public school principals from 2007–08 were categorized as “leavers”. In the 2012–13 school year, 11.5 percent of public school principals from 2011–12 were categorized as “leavers." In the 2016–17 school year, 9.8 percent of public school principals from 2015–16 were categorized as “leavers." In the 2021–22 school year, 11.2 percent of public school principals from 2020–21 were categorized as “leavers." Detail may not sum to totals because of rounding and because data are not shown for principals in the following categories: deceased, working in a K–12 school not as a principal, school type unkown; and still working in K–12 education not in a school and position unknown.
