The National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS) examines the characteristics of students in postsecondary education, with special focus on how they finance their education.
Starting with 2007–08, the NPSAS student survey and institution student records item wording (i.e., facsimile) are available to view, download, and print as PDF files. For earlier NPSAS administrations, refer to the technical documentation.
In addition to the student survey and institutional student records, NPSAS obtains data from several administrative sources, including the federal government, admissions testing services, and private organizations. These data are all combined to compute variables on the analysis dataset.
