The International Computer and Information Literacy Study (ICILS) is a computer-based international assessment of 8th-grade students’ capacities to use information communications technologies (ICT) productively for a range of different purposes, in ways that go beyond a basic use of ICT. ICILS assesses students in two domains: computer and information literacy (CIL) and computational thinking (CT). CIL focuses on understanding computer use, gathering information, producing information, and communicating digitally, while CT focuses on conceptualizing problems and operationalizing solutions.
