Policy

The High School & Beyond (HS&B) Longitudinal Studies are designed to enable study of the educational experiences, outcomes, and transitions of students into, throughout, and after high school, including their transitions into postsecondary education and the workforce. HS&B studies collect data from nationally representative samples of high school students, and their parents or guardians, teachers, school counselors, and school administrators to provide a comprehensive portrait of students and their familial and school resources. The resulting longitudinal data enable researchers and policymakers to examine and understand a range of policy issues over time, related to:

  1. High School Characteristics and Contexts
  2. Academic Achievement
  3. Coursetaking
  4. Parental and Community Involvement/Social Capital
  5. Educational Equity, Access, and Choice
  6. Post-High School Transitions
