Description:	This brief report represents the first data from NCES' 1991 survey of the educational activities of adults in the United States. This survey was conducted as a large-scale, nationally representative field test and is a component of NCES' National Household Education Survey (NHES). NHES is a random-digit dialing telephone survey of the civilian, non-institutionalized population in the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
