NCES 2015026 Trends in Graduate Student Financing: Selected Years, 1995–96 to 2011–12
These tables present data from five administrations of the National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (1995-96, 1999-2000, 2003-04, 2007-08, and 2011-12) showing trends in how graduate students financed their education. Data include the demographic attributes and academic characteristics of graduate students and their average price of attendance. It details the proportion who received financial aid and the average amounts of various types received, including grants and scholarships, loans, assistantships, and employer aid. It displays trends in the ratio of loans to total aid amount, maximum federal borrowing, and the cumulative indebtedness of graduate students. The data are presented separately for students in the largest graduate degree programs and by various demographic and enrollment characteristics, including age, sex, citizenship, race/ethnicity, marital status, income, attendance status, tuition level, field of study, and type of institution attended.

NCES 2015168 Profile and Financial Aid Estimates of Graduate Students: 2011-12
These tables present data from the 2011-12 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS:12) displaying the demographic and academic characteristics of graduate students and how they financed their education. Tables include information on the distribution of graduate students by degree program and field of study, and within programs, by individual and institutional characteristics. In addition, tables present information on the cost of attendance and the various types and sources of financial aid received by graduate students.

NCES 2014141 Baccalaureate and Beyond: A First Look at the Employment Experiences and Lives of College Graduates, 4 Years On (B&B:08/12)
This report presents initial findings about the employment outcomes of bachelor's degree recipients approximately 4 years after they completed their 2007–08 degrees. These findings are based on data from the second follow-up of the Baccalaureate and Beyond Longitudinal Study (B&B:08/12), a nationally representative longitudinal sample survey of students who completed the requirements for a bachelor's degree during the 2007–08 academic year. The study addresses questions related to bachelor's degree recipients' education and employment experiences and includes two follow-ups. The first follow-up, which was conducted 1 year after graduation, explored both undergraduate education experiences and early postbaccalaureate employment and enrollment. This second follow-up, conducted in 2012, examines bachelor's degree recipients' labor market experiences and enrollment in additional postsecondary degree programs through the 4th year after graduation.

NCES 2014179 Comparison of Original and Revised Student Financial Aid Estimates for 2007–08 (Web Tables)
These tables present original and revised estimates for the 2007–08 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS:08): Student Financial Aid Estimates for 2007–08 (NCES 2009-166) report. In 2013, NCES revised the NPSAS:08 analysis weights to take advantage of more recently available data and to provide more accurate estimates. Included in the tables are original and revised estimates of percentages of students who received selected types of financial aid and the average amount they received. Tables 1-8 provide information on undergraduate student financial aid and income. Tables 9-10 provide information on graduate and first-professional student financial aid.

NCES 2014046REV Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) 2012 U.S. Restricted Use File (RUF)
The PIAAC U.S. RUF contains individual unit record data including both responses to the background questionnaire and the cognitive assessment from the original U.S. PIAAC data collection completed in 2012. Statistical disclosure control treatments were applied due to confidentiality concerns. In addition to the variables in the PUF (NCES 2014-045REV), the RUF contains detailed versions of variables and additional data collected through U.S. specific questionnaire routing. The RUF can be accessed through a restricted use license agreement with the National Center for Education Statistics. For more details on the RUF, please refer to Appendix J of the U.S. PIAAC Technical Report (NCES 2014-047).

Important note to users:

These original 2012 data have been updated, reweighted, and revised with the release of the PIAAC 2012/2014 restricted-use dataset (NCES 2016-668). That dataset should be used for analyses instead of this original version unless you are seeking to reproduce historic analyses.

Statistical disclosure control treatments were applied due to confidentiality concerns. For more details on the PUF, please refer to Appendix J of the U.S. PIAAC Technical Report (NCES 2014-047).

Important notes to users:
  1. These original 2012 data have been updated, reweighted, and revised with the release of the PIAAC 2012/2014 dataset (NCES 2016-667). That dataset should be used for analyses instead of this original version unless you are seeking to reproduce historic analyses.
  2. The OECD identified an error in the derivation of the following variables in the PIAAC original 2012 data files: NFE12JR, NFE12NJR, FNFE12JR, FNFAET12JR and FNFAET12NJR. NCES released revised U.S. public-use and restricted-use files, the background compendia, and the codebook on August 18, 2015. The revised public-use files are available below. NCES 2013150 Web Tables—Profile of 2007–08 First-Time Bachelor’s Degree Recipients in 2009
These Web Tables use data from the first follow-up of the 2008 Baccalaureate and Beyond (B&B:08/09) study to display a wide range of information on demographic characteristics, educational experiences, and student loan borrowing of 2007–08 first-time bachelor’s degree recipients. In addition to undergraduate experiences, tables display information on employment, community service, postbaccalaureate enrollment, and student loan debt 1 year after bachelor’s degree completion. Results are shown by selected student demographic and enrollment characteristics.

The 2012 print edition includes indicators in three main areas: (1) participation in education; (2) elementary and secondary education and outcomes; and (3) postsecondary education and outcomes.
