NCES 2018418 Trends in Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Submissions
These Web Tables combine FAFSA submission data released by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Federal Student Aid, starting with the 2006–07 application cycle, with other nationally representative data to show variation in FAFSA submissions by region, state or jurisdiction, selected applicant characteristics, and over time. The publication presents two measures of the number of FAFSA submissions per person. One measure divides the number of FAFSA submissions by the number of individuals who are 18 through 24 years old, which approximates the population of potential traditional-age undergraduates. The other measure divides the number of FAFSA submissions by the enrollment of undergraduate and graduate students.

NCES 2018421 First-Generation Students: College Access, Persistence, and Postbachelor’s Outcomes
This Statistics in Brief focuses on students whose parents have not attended college and examines these students’ high school success and postsecondary enrollment, persistence and degree completion once they enrolled in college, and graduate school enrollment and employment outcomes after they attained a bachelor’s degree. Their outcomes are compared to those of their peers whose parents had attended or completed college. This report draws on data from three nationally representative studies from the National Center for Education Statistics: the Education Longitudinal Study of 2002 (ELS:2002), the 2004/09 Beginning Postsecondary Students Longitudinal Study (BPS:04/09), and the 2008/12 Baccalaureate and Beyond Longitudinal Study (B&B:08/12).

NCES 2018466 2015–16 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS:16): Student Financial Aid Estimates for 2015–16
This First Look publication provides the first results of the 2015–16 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS:16), the most comprehensive nationally representative survey of student financing of postsecondary education in the United States. The survey was conducted with about 89,000 undergraduate students and 24,000 graduate students attending 1,800 postsecondary institutions in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. This report describes the percentages of students receiving various types of financial aid and average amounts received, by type of institution attended, attendance pattern, dependency status, and income level.

These Web Tables present data on the transition of 2007‒08 science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) bachelor’s degree recipients into the labor market and further education during the 4 years after college graduation. These tables are of interest to federal and state policymakers because they provide information about the supply of bachelor’s-level STEM workers in the United States. The estimates were generated from the second follow-up of the 2007–08 Baccalaureate and Beyond Longitudinal Study (B&B:08/12).

NCES 2017438 Four Years After a Bachelor’s Degree: Employment, Enrollment, and Debt Among College Graduates
Based on data from the second follow-up of the Baccalaureate and Beyond Longitudinal Study (B&B:08/12), these Web Tables present information on the employment, enrollment, and debt of first-time bachelor’s degree recipients 4 years after graduation. The tables describe graduates’ employment history and status after 4 years, their current or most recent occupation and salary, and their experiences with unemployment after college. In addition, some tables focus on steps taken toward further education, including enrollment after the 2007–08 bachelor’s degree and attainment of additional degrees. Finally, the tables present information on graduates’ borrowing for postsecondary education and repayment of education loans.

These Web Tables present information on the employment and enrollment status of first-time bachelor’s degree recipients one year after graduation. The analysis uses data collected in the first follow-up surveys of three administrations of the Baccalaureate and Beyond Longitudinal Study (B&B). The first follow-up studies, conducted in 1994, 2001, and 2009, respectively, collected data on graduates’ undergraduate education experiences and their early postbaccalaureate employment and enrollment.

NCES 2016667REV Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) 2012/2014: U.S. National Supplement Public Use Data Files-Household
The PIAAC 2012/14 U.S. PUF contains individual unit record data including both responses to the background questionnaire and the cognitive assessment from both the first and second U.S. PIAAC data collections, completed in 2012 and 2014, respectively. In September 2017, the PUF was reissued, with an Errata Sheet detailing the revisions. Statistical disclosure control treatments were applied due to confidentiality concerns. For more details on the PUF, please refer to Appendix E of the U.S. PIAAC Technical Report (NCES 2016-036REV).

NCES 2016668REV Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) 2012/2014: U.S. National Supplement Restricted Use Data Files-Household
The PIAAC 2012/14 U.S. RUF contains individual unit record data including both responses to the background questionnaire and the cognitive assessment from both the first and second U.S. PIAAC data collections, completed in 2012 and 2014, respectively. Statistical disclosure control treatments were applied due to confidentiality concerns. In addition to the variables in the PUF (NCES 2014-667REV), the RUF contains detailed versions of variables and additional data collected through U.S. specific questionnaire routing. The RUF can be accessed through a restricted use license agreement with the National Center for Education Statistics. For more details on the RUF, please refer to Appendix E of the U.S. PIAAC Technical Report (NCES 2016-036REV).

NCES 2015026 Trends in Graduate Student Financing: Selected Years, 1995–96 to 2011–12
These tables present data from five administrations of the National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (1995-96, 1999-2000, 2003-04, 2007-08, and 2011-12) showing trends in how graduate students financed their education. Data include the demographic attributes and academic characteristics of graduate students and their average price of attendance. It details the proportion who received financial aid and the average amounts of various types received, including grants and scholarships, loans, assistantships, and employer aid. It displays trends in the ratio of loans to total aid amount, maximum federal borrowing, and the cumulative indebtedness of graduate students. The data are presented separately for students in the largest graduate degree programs and by various demographic and enrollment characteristics, including age, sex, citizenship, race/ethnicity, marital status, income, attendance status, tuition level, field of study, and type of institution attended.

NCES 2015168 Profile and Financial Aid Estimates of Graduate Students: 2011-12
These tables present data from the 2011-12 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS:12) displaying the demographic and academic characteristics of graduate students and how they financed their education. Tables include information on the distribution of graduate students by degree program and field of study, and within programs, by individual and institutional characteristics. In addition, tables present information on the cost of attendance and the various types and sources of financial aid received by graduate students.
