NCES 2017019 Projections of Education Statistics to 2025
This publication provides projections for key education statistics. It includes statistics on enrollment, graduates, teachers, and expenditures in elementary and secondary schools, and enrollment and earned degrees conferred expenditures of degree-granting institutions. For the Nation, the tables, figures, and text contain data on enrollment, teachers, graduates, and expenditures for the past 14 years and projections to the year 2025. For the 50 States and the District of Columbia, the tables, figures, and text contain data on projections of public elementary and secondary enrollment and public high school graduates to the year 2025. In addition, the report includes a methodology section describing models and assumptions used to develop national and state-level projections.

NCES 2017137 IPEDS Enrollment Brochure
IPEDS brochures inform data users (e.g., researchers, policy makers, members of the media, the general public, etc.) about the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System. The Enrollment Brochure uses graphics and plain language to describe how enrollment data from Title IV postsecondary institutions are collected in IPEDS. It compares the enrollment counts from the Fall Enrollment and 12-month Enrollment survey components; cites key differences and advantages to each; and provides a timeline for the release of the data, along with key terms.

It presents a selection of indicators that examine differences in educational participation and attainment of students in the racial/ethnic groups of White, Black, Hispanic, Asian, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, American Indian/Alaska Native, and Two or more races. The report summarizes data on topics such as demographics; preprimary, elementary, and secondary participation; student achievement; student behaviors and persistence in education, postsecondary education, and outcomes of education.

REL 2017254 Changes in financial aid and student enrollment at historically Black colleges and universities after the tightening of PLUS credit standards: An update for the 2013/14 school year
In 2011, the U.S. Department of Education tightened the credit history standards for obtaining Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (PLUS). Concerned about the possible effects of this change on historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), REL Mid-Atlantic's HBCU Research Alliance wanted to measure and understand changes in financial aid and student enrollment at HBCUs during the first full year after the new credit standards were imposed. The resulting report found declines in the number of PLUS recipients and enrollment at HBCUs (Johnson, Bruch, & Gill, 2015). This follow-up study looks at changes in financial aid and enrollment after the summer of 2013, when the Department of Education changed the appeals process for families denied PLUS loans. The study found that the number of PLUS recipients at HBCUs increased in 2013/14, though the number of recipients remained substantially below the level before PLUS credit standards were tightened in 2011. Enrollment at HBCUs continued to decline in 2013/14, as did the enrollment of Black students nationwide.

This publication describes the methodology used in the 2012/14 Beginning Postsecondary Students Longitudinal Study (BPS:12/14). BPS:12/14 is the first follow-up study of students who began postsecondary education in the 2011 12 academic year. These students were first interviewed as part of the 2011 12 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS:12). In particular, this report details the methodology and outcomes of the BPS:12/14 sample design, student interview design, student interview data collection processes, administrative records matching, data file processing, and weighting procedures.

The 2012/14 Beginning Postsecondary Students Longitudinal Study (BPS:12/14) restricted-use data file contains data on a nationally representative sample of students who began postsecondary education for the first time in the 201112 academic year. These students were first surveyed as part of the National Postsecondary Student Aid Study and BPS:12/14 is the first follow-up of these students three years later in 2014. These record-level data allow users to explore topics related to persistence, attainment, and retention in postsecondary education over three academic years, from 201112 to 201314.

NCES 2016144 The Condition of Education 2016
NCES has a mandate to report to Congress on the condition of education by June 1 of each year. The Condition of Education 2016 summarizes important developments and trends in education using the latest available data. The 2016 report presents 43 key indicators on the status and condition of education and are grouped under four main areas: (1) population characteristics, (2) participation in education, (3) elementary and secondary education, and (4) postsecondary education. Also included in the report are 3 Spotlight indicators that provide a more in-depth look at some of the data.
