(NCES 96-033-I) Ordering information

The 1995 Directory of Postsecondary Institutions is a comprehensive listing of the 10,403 postsecondary institutions known to be in operation in the United States, the District of Columbia, and the outlying areas in the close of academic year 1994-95. The Directory is published to make this national database available to the education community, the general public, and other interested users.

Basic information is provided on each institution, including its name, address, telephone number, control or affiliation, highest level of award, general types of programs, calendar system, Carnegie classification, and nationally recognized accreditations. Also listed are the institution's 1993 fall enrollment and the typical charges for tuition and required fees and room and board for academic year 1994-95.

The Directory is printed in two volumes due to the large number of institutions and the amount of information presented for each institution. Volume 1 includes institutions at the 4-year and 2-year levels, while less-than-2-year institutions are included in Volume 2.

The information was collected through the 1994-95 "Institutional Characteristics" survey, the 1993 "Fall Enrollment" survey, and the 1993 "Consolidated" survey, conducted annually by the as part of the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). A full explanation of the data can be found in the introduction to the Directory.

This directory is 472 pages with 12 tables and 6 appendices totaling 63 pages.
