Title: Measuring Participation in Adult Education
Description: This report compares two studies which have yielded disparate rates of adult education participation at several points in time. The two studies on which this analysis focuses are the National Household Education Survey (NHES) and the Current Population Survey (CPS). The NHES, a household-based telephone survey that covers varied educational topics, included adult education components in 1991 and 1995. The CPS, a Department of Commerce survey, collected information on participation in adult education every 3 years from 1969 through 1984 and again in 1992.
