Title: Efforts by Public K-8 Schools to Involve Parents in Children's Education: Do Schools and Parents Agree?
Description: Using the data from the Parent and Family Involvement in Education/Civic Involvement Survey of the 1996 National Household Education Surveys Program (PFI/CI-NHES: 1996) and the Survey on Family and School Partnerships in Public Schools, K-8, this report examines the level of agreement between parents’ and schools’ views of how schools involve parents in their children’s education and how parents respond to the opportunities for involvement that schools provide. Specifically, this report first compares schools’ and parents’ reports regarding whether schools used various practices to encourage parents to become involved in their children’s education. It then compares the two reports to identify the extent to which parents participated in school-sponsored activities.
