ACT will retire ACT QualityCore EOC assessments at the end of the 2016–17 school year.
All students in these states are automatically enrolled in a mathematics course sequence that includes Algebra II, but with parental permission a student may modify (i.e., lessen) the Algebra II/Integrated Math III requirement or its equivalent course content or opt into another state diploma that includes a different set of course requirements that does not include Algebra II/ Integrated Math III. Students in these states who modify the math requirement will not be assessed using the Algebra II/Integrated Math III EOC (if one exists in the state).
For mathematics, the SAT becomes the Colorado 11th grade assessment in 2016–17. Students take the PARCC assessment aligned with the mathematics course they take in grade 9.
The Michigan Merit Exam (MME) is comprised of the SAT with Essay, ACT WorkKeys, and M-STEP summative assessments in science and social studies.
ACT becomes the new assessment for grade 11.
Students in grades 9-11 must take their grade-level PARCC ELA tests, unless they are enrolled in a higher level ELA course. In that case, they may take the PARCC ELA test corresponding to their course. Students in grades 9-11 enrolled in a course lower than their grade level must take their grade-level PARCC test. Students in grades 9-11 must take the PARCC math test that aligns to the course in which they are enrolled, with the following exception: students concurrently enrolled in two PARCC aligned math courses must take one PARCC test, but may take both.
For mathematics, any student who in the 2013–14 school year or thereafter, regardless of grade of enrollment, begins his or her first commencement-level math course culminating in a Regents Exam in June 2014 or thereafter must take the New York State mathematics Regents Exam that corresponds to that course, as available, and be provided with Common Core instruction. Most typically, this first course will be Algebra I (Common Core). Those students who began or will complete an Integrated Algebra, Geometry, or Algebra 2/Trigonometry course prior to the 2013–14 school year must take the corresponding Regents Exams aligned to the Mathematics Core Curriculum (revised 2005), while those examinations are still being offered. The final administration of the Regents Examination in Algebra 2/Trigonometry (2005 standard) will be in January 2017.
For the 2016–17 school year, 12th grade students can retake an Ohio Graduation Test content area(s) as needed. Districts and community schools must administer a state-funded college and career readiness test to juniors in spring 2017 as one of their three diploma options (ACT or SAT).
NOTE: In this table, EOC represents End-of-Course assessments and PARCC is the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers.
