Major Outcomes:
- Establish a state policy-focused research and evaluation consortium composed of state universities, legislators, state and local decision-makers, and other stakeholders;
- Create a library of state-policy-focused visualizations that can transform VLDS data into insights to assist policymakers and practitioners taking data-informed actions;
- Develop a new series of Canvas courses, in tandem with other outreach efforts, to enhance the data visualization capacity within VDOE;
- Develop workforce navigation dashboards to include health professions;
- Modernize the data collection process for transmitting data from LEA to SEA;
- Develop new data infrastructure features including a data asset inventory, a metadata repository, and a data mart; and
- Develop a repository of reports that are visible and accessible to new end users, in particular, Virginia's school administrators and educators.

- The proposed project has two goals:
- to ensure research using data from VLDS is reflective of policy-relevant, equity-focused research questions and
- to increase access to and transparency of VLDS data to a broader audience of education stakeholders.
- The VDOE anticipates five outcomes from this project:
- an equity-focused research agenda for VLDS and
- an established longitudinal data research community that, in tandem, will align future research projects to VDOE’s equity commitments;
- a library of equity-focused visualizations tailored to the expressed information needs of policymakers and practitioners; and
- an educational performance measures dashboard and
- educational record exchange platform which together will support and maintain the educational stability for children and youth in foster care, whenever it is in their best interest to do so.

Major Outcomes:
The proposed project will address the following limitation of current systems in Virginia:- Capacity to exchange data across institutions within the State and with institutions in other States, in conformance with FERPA
- Supporting the recommendations of Virginia's P-16 Council by adopting a standard electronic student record that can be transferred from school-to-school, in and out of state, and from K-12 to higher education institutions.
- A data warehouse or comparable means for managing and storing longitudinally linked data and making them accessible to teachers, schools, districts, and researchers
- Supporting the vision of the 2003 RFP and the recommendations of the 2006 study by providing a user-friendly interface to the data warehouse developing the ability to incorporate locally stored data (such as local assessments) into the decision support component; and providing analysis of graduation requirements to building-level educators.
- Acknowledged data quality issues at the local level
- Supporting school divisions in addressing data quality issues by providing a comprehensive, role-based training program that produces awareness of the need for quality data and role-based accountability for quality data or the lack thereof.
