2023 Grant Application
Nevada SLDS School Funding
Start Date: 9/25/2023
End Date: 9/24/2027
Project Director: Glenn Meyer
Amount Awarded: $3,997,900
Project Abstract 59 KB
Major Outcomes:
- The Nevada Department of Education (NDE) will identify school level finance data required to analyze school funding patterns over time. Currently this data resides in several different sources and the NDE will establish agreements with the entities that source the data to gain access to the information. NDE will work to consolidate the data into a single source or reduce the number of sources if possible.
- NDE will link the various sources, or consolidated sources, of school finance data to the existing Department's data collection systems. The Department will leverage work completed as part of the 2019 SDLS grant to automate the collection of the data into the Azure cloud infrastructure and stage that data in the Snow Flake data lake.
- NDE will work closely with the CEDS community to expand the CEDS data warehouse physical model to include school level finance data. NDE will leverage its involvement in the consortia and prior experience with CEDS to develop a standard for the storage of finance data that will benefit the entire CEDS community.
- The Department will link the financial data in the CEDS data warehouse to the Nevada PreK to Workforce Reporting (NPWR) system. By linking this data to NPWR the data will be available for external research purposes. NDE will develop a new school funding dashboard with uses the data to show funding patterns over time.
