Data through 1994-95 are for institutions of higher education and U.S. service academies, while later data are for degree-granting institutions and U.S. service academies. Degree-granting institutions grant associate's or higher degrees and participate in Title IV federal financial aid programs. Degree counts are limited to degree-granting institutions as classified in the fall following the reported data year. A small number of current non-degree-granting institutions could have awarded degrees to students in the prior year, but these counts are excluded from this table. Some data have been revised from previously published figures. Projections in this table were calculated after the onset of the coronavirus pandemic and take into account the expected impacts of the pandemic. Detail may not sum to totals because of rounding.
