Includes all persons who use the internet at any location. In 2021, also includes other public place, while traveling between places, and some other location.
Includes only persons who were enrolled in school for the specified age group because data on school enrollment were not collected for the other age groups. In 2011, about 36 percent of persons ages 16 to 24 were enrolled in school. In 2021, about 16 percent of persons ages 16 to 54 were enrolled in school.
Includes only persons age 15 and over who were employed because data on employment were not collected for younger age groups. In 2011, about 58 percent of persons age 15 and over were employed. In 2021, about 59 percent of persons age 15 and over were employed.
Persons living in areas whose metropolitan status was not identified are excluded from this analysis. In 2011 and 2021, less than 1 percent of persons lived in an area with non-identified metropolitan status.
Refers to metropolitan statistical areas, which contain at least one urbanized area with a population of 50,000 or more.
Refers to areas that are outside of metropolitan statistical areas.
NOTE: Data are based on sample surveys of the civilian noninstitutionalized population, which excludes persons in the military and persons living in institutions (e.g., prisons or nursing facilities). Race categories exclude persons of Hispanic ethnicity. Some data have been revised from previously published figures.
