1In the total columns, households indicating they had the types of computers/devices listed in more than one survey question are counted only once. In addition to the types of computers/devices listed, totals include a small percentage (less than 1 percent) of children whose households had "some other type of computer" not listed in the survey questions.
2Highest education level of any parent residing with the child (including an adoptive or stepparent). Includes only children related to the household reference person and residing with at least one of their parents.
NOTE: Data are based on sample surveys of the entire population residing within the United States. However, this table includes only children living in households, because respondents living in group quarters (e.g., shelters, healthcare facilities, or correctional facilities) were not asked about computer access. The surveys asked about "computers" or "types of computer" (including smartphones) in the household. Percentages refer to children whose household members owned or used at home any computers/devices listed in the survey questions or "some other type of computer" that was not listed. Estimates for 2016 and later years may not be comparable to those for 2013 and 2015 because the wording of the ACS computer questions was revised as of 2016. Race categories exclude persons of Hispanic ethnicity. Some data have been revised from previously published figures.
