NOTE: Data are based on sample surveys of the entire population residing within the United States, but this table includes only children under age 18 who resided with at least one of their parents (including an adoptive or stepparent). Children in single-parent households resided with only one parent, while those in two-parent households resided with two parents. The data source for this table changed from the Current Population Survey to the American Community Survey for Digest 2022. Comparison should not be made with the prior version of the table. Race categories exclude persons of Hispanic ethnicity. Some data have been revised from previously published figures. Detail may not sum to totals because of rounding.
