Handicapped children accounted for 13 percent in Head Start programs. The racial/ethnic composition was: American Indian/Alaska Native, 3 percent; Hispanic, 29 percent; Black, 35 percent; White, 30 percent; Asian, 2 percent, and Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, 1 percent.

The racial/ethnic composition was: American Indian/Alaska Native, 3.1 percent; Hispanic, 30.5 percent; Black, 31.5 percent; White, 27.9 percent; Asian, 1.8 percent, and Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, 1.0 percent.
