Handicapped children accounted for 13 percent in Head Start programs. The racial/ethnic composition was: American Indian/Alaska Native, 3 percent; Hispanic, 29 percent; Black, 35 percent; White, 30 percent; Asian, 2 percent, and Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, 1 percent.
\2\The distribution of enrollment by age was: 4 percent were 5 years old and over; 54 percent were 4-year-olds; 35 percent were 3-year-olds; and 7 percent were under 3 years of age. Handicapped children accounted for 13 percent in Head Start programs. The racial/ethnic composition was: American Indian/Alaska Native, 4 percent; Hispanic, 30 percent; Black, 34 percent; White, 30 percent; Asian, 2 percent, and Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, 1 percent.

Handicapped children accounted for 13 percent in Head Start programs. Handicapped children accounted for 12.5 percent in Head Start programs. The racial/ethnic composition was: American Indian/Alaska Native, 3.1 percent; Hispanic, 30.5 percent; Black, 31.5 percent; White, 27.9 percent; Asian, 1.8 percent, and Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, 1.0 percent.
