The Adult Training and Education Survey (ATES) collected data about adults ages 16 to 65 who are not enrolled in high school. The survey focused on nondegree credentials and work experience programs. Nondegree credentials included two types of work credentials–certifications and licenses–and postsecondary educational certificates. Work experience programs included internships, co-ops, practicums, clerkships, externships, residencies, clinical experiences, and apprenticeships. Characteristics of adults were also collected, including level of education, labor force and employment status, earnings, job sector, and occupational field.
