Field staff conduct a series of quality control checks on paper-based assessment materials as they prepare these items for return to the NAEP ​​processing and scoring center. These quality control checks include:

  • accounting for all assessment documents, including session booklets, administration forms, and questionnaires;
  • checking that student and school staff names do not appear on any assessment documents; and
  • completing all required administrative information on all assessment documents.

After all quality checks have been completed and verified, the hard copy materials are packed, sealed, and shipped.
