NAEP Technical DocumentationTelephone Follow-Up Interviews With School Coordinators

As an additional quality control check of assessment team performance, senior field staff conduct telephone follow-up interviews with school coordinators. Twenty-five percent of schools are randomly selected for these interviews. Calls are placed within three business days after an assessment and require three to five minutes to complete.

On the calls, senior field staff ask school coordinators to provide feedback on

  • whether the assessment team arrived on time,
  • how well the team handled assessment day,
  • whether sessions started on time,
  • how well sessions were conducted, and
  • how well the team interacted with students and school staff.
