NCES is pleased to announce the release of the 2020 Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP), which can be downloaded from the Resources section of the 2020 CIP website as either a Word or Excel file. NCES is releasing the 2020 CIP approximately one year in advance of when it will be implemented to allow sufficient time for institutions to update their reporting systems. IPEDS institutions will be expected to use the 2020 CIP beginning with the Fall 2020 Completions Survey, when institutions report on the number of degrees and certificates awarded by 6 digit CIP Code between July 1, 2019-June 30, 2020.
NCES plans to release training on how to use the 2020 CIP in early 2020. Until then, users can email questions to NCES staff at CIP2020@ed.gov. The CIP website also contains a detailed Help document and Frequently Asked Questions, which will be updated on a regular basis.
NCES is pleased to announce the release of two new IPEDS brochures.
