This Week in IPEDS (TWII)

Previous date March 14, 2023

1. AIR is Recruiting IPEDS Educators

The Association for Institutional Research (AIR) is recruiting experienced IPEDS Keyholders, coordinators, and data users to develop and deliver a curriculum to ensure the quality of data submission and improve the skills of individuals using these data. IPEDS Educators assist in developing and delivering IPEDS training, including in-person and virtual national workshops, online courses and tutorials, and other training materials for IPEDS survey components and data tools. Training is made possible through a contract with RTI, and funded by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). The application deadline is March 31, 2023. Visit the AIR website to learn more: https://www.airweb.org/collaborate-learn/ipeds-training/courses-workshops/become-an-ipeds-educator .

2. Town Halls on OMB's Race and Ethnicity Statistical Standards

As noted previously in This week in IPEDS, OMB is proposing revisions to the method of collecting race/ethnicity. As part of that process, OMB will be hosting three Town Halls, the first of which is scheduled for March 14, 2023, at 2:00pm ET. For more information on the Town Halls, please see: https://spd15revision.gov/content/spd15revision/en/news/2023-03-07-bulletin.html.

Create or update your institution's custom comparison group for your annual Data Feedback Report (DFR), a benchmarking tool to compare your institution's IPEDS data with your peers. Each year, the DFR is emailed to IPEDS Keyholders and Coordinators, then a copy is emailed to the CEO/President. If a custom comparison group is not created, a NCES-created comparison group will be used as a default group. While creating a custom comparison group is not required, a customized group may make the DFR more useful for your campus leaders. The deadline for creating your customized comparison group is July 15, 2023.
