Civil Rights Data Working Group

Purpose: Once every two years, all local education agencies (LEAs) are required to participate in the Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC). This collection provides the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) with data on civil rights indicators regarding access and barriers to educational opportunities in the nation’s public schools. In recent years, some state education agencies (SEAs) have developed methods to assist LEAs with their data reporting responsibilities. The Forum Civil Rights Data Working Group will identify promising practices that SEAs and LEAs have developed to collect and report civil rights data.

Current Tasks: The Civil Rights Data Working Group is currently developing a new Forum resource that will feature a number of case studies examining how LEAs and SEAs can streamline the reporting of high quality civil rights data.
