This Week In IPEDS (TWII)

NCES released the 2015-16 final data from the Outcome Measures (OM) survey component along with the data file documentation report, which titled "2015-16 Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS): Data Inconsistencies Between the Outcome Measures and Graduation Rates Survey Components." NCES found data inconsistencies in the reported completion data through the OM, Graduation Rates (GR) and 200 Percent Graduation Rates (GR200) on the 2007 entering student cohort. As such, the 2015-16 OM provisional data were held from release to allow flagged institutions to verify and update their reported data through the 2015-16 Prior Year Revision (PYR) system. Most institutions were able to correct their inconsistencies; however, some OM, GR, and/or GR200 data inconsistencies remained. The report documents the data inconsistencies, actions taken to correct the inconsistencies, and lists the IPEDS unit IDs of institutions with unresolved data inconsistencies. In addition, the 2015-16 OM data file includes a variable that identifies the institution with the inconsistency.

NCES recommends reviewing the data file documentation report, posted in the "Technical/Methodological" section of the IPEDS Publication & Products website (https://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/getpubcats.asp?sid=010) when using the 2015-16 OM and GR/GR200 final data, which are available on the 'Use the Data' portal of the IPEDS website.

2. Prior Year Revision (PYR) System Now Open for Fall Components

The Prior Year Revision System is now open for revisions to Fall survey component data originally submitted in 2017-18. To view or revise data from the 2017-18 collection year, login to the Prior Year Data Revision System using your 2018-19 UserID and password, at: https://surveys.nces.ed.gov/IPEDS_py/. Revisions to the Winter or Spring survey components can be made beginning on December 12, 2018.

3. Help Desk Temporary Closure Due to Hurricane Florence

Due to inclement weather from Hurricane Florence, the IPEDS Help Desk will be closed Thursday 9/13/18 beginning at 12:00pm, and Friday 9/14/18. Voicemails and emails will be responded to as quickly as possible once the help desk is reopened.
