1. Deadline Approaching: Customize Your Comparison Group for the 2018 Data Feedback Report

Did you know that you can create or update a custom comparison group for your annual Data Feedback Report (DFR)? Each fall, a DFR is emailed to the CEO/President and to the IPEDS Keyholder, and compares your institution's IPEDS data with your peer institutions' IPEDS data. While creating a custom comparison group is not required, creating a customized group may make the DFR more useful for your campus leaders. The deadline for creating a comparison group is July 13, 2018.

There are two ways to create a custom comparison group: 1) by using the IPEDS Data Center's Customize DFR (http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/datacenter/) or 2) through the Data Collection System's Tool menu and scroll down to locate Comparison Group Edit/Upload (https://surveys.nces.ed.gov/IPEDS). Instructions for creating a custom comparison group are located under the Data Collection System's Help menu. Unsure about which institutions to include in your comparison group? Take advantage of the Association for Institutional Research's online tutorial and handout on suggested practices when creating comparison groups:
http://www.airweb.org/EducationAndEvents/IPEDSTraining/Tutorials/Pages/CreatingComparisonGroups.aspx
Contact the IPEDS Help Desk for assistance in creating and/or uploading your institution's custom comparison group.

2. Trend Generator 4.0 Now Available

The IPEDS Trend Generator provides trends on frequently asked subject areas including: enrollment, completions, graduation rates, employees/staff, financial aid, and institutional resources. The tool has recently been enhanced. Key improvements include: a more intuitive user interface, easier navigation and transitioning between data trends, trend data available in multiple formats, improved functionality for building tables, and more. New tutorials and training options will be available in the near future. The IPEDS Trend Generator can be accessed at: http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/trendgenerator.

3. IPEDS Workshops

You are invited to attend one or more IPEDS Workshops this summer and/or fall. Workshops are face-to-face intensive, short-term professional development experiences for IPEDS data providers and users. Increase your skills and knowledge on a variety of IPEDS topics, such as IPEDS Human Resources, IPEDS Student Financial Aid, IPEDS Finance, IPEDS Data as the Public Face of an Institution, IPEDS data and Benchmarking, and more – each with individual instruction.

If you are a keyholder, don't miss one of our New Keyholder or Best Practices workshops being offered around the country throughout the year.

Note: Workshops offerings are added to the schedule regularly, so bookmark the IPEDS Workshops webpage and check it frequently so you can stay informed about the latest offerings. Workshops are provided at no charge to participants. Funding for IPEDS Workshops is provided by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).
