  2. College Map Updated

1. New IPEDS Brochures Released

NCES is pleased to announce the release of two new IPEDS brochures. These are two in a series of brochures designed to inform data users (e.g., researchers, policy makers, members of the media, the general public, etc.) about the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and other NCES surveys. The new brochures are as follows:

  • The Student Financial Aid Brochure (found at http://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=2018059) uses graphics and plain language to describe the student groups for which IPEDS aid data are collected; the various types of aid data collected; differences in the data due to institutional calendar year; and aid data key terms.
  • The Data Collection and Release Procedures Brochure (found at http://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=2017140) describes the 3 IPEDS data collection periods; the data validation and review processes; the 3 data releases; when to expect dissemination; and where to retrieve the latest data.

2. College Map Updated

There has been a recent update to the postsecondary institution search tool, College Map (http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/CollegeMap/), which can help future undergraduate and graduate students visually and quickly locate their college or university. College Map supplements College Navigator (http://nces.ed.gov/collegenavigator/) by mapping institutions with a physical location. Exclusively online institutions are not mapped, but appear in the results pane if users select to include online institutions in their search results. College Map has been updated with 2016-17 provisional IPEDS data. Feel free to give it a test run on your desktop or mobile devices.
