1. Reminder About Upcoming Collection Changes
As a reminder, there are several significant changes being implemented during the IPEDS 2020-21 data collection, which could impact your institution. Some of the most significant changes include (but are not limited to):
- Disaggregating of less-than-one-year certificates for purposes of reporting award levels in Institutional Characteristics (IC) and awards conferred in Completions (C).
- Collection of additional student enrollment detail in 12-Month Enrollment (E12)
- Adoption of CIP 2020
- Expanded distance education question in Completions (C)
2. Recent Data Updates
Data reported in Fall 2019 data are now available through the IPEDS Use-the-Data page (https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/use-the-data). Data updates include Institutional Characteristics for 2019-20, along with Completions and 12-Month Enrollment for 2018-19. Final revised data from the Fall 2018 prior year revision system are also available.
The IPEDS Trend Generator has recently been updated with provisional Fall 2019 and final Fall 2018 data. Additionally, a new question has been added concerning enrollment of students over the age of 25. The Trend Generator is available from the IPEDS Use-the-Data page or at https://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/TrendGenerator/
College Navigator (https://nces.ed.gov/collegenavigator/) has recently been updated with 2019 Fall Enrollment data, Fall retention rates, student-to-faculty ratios, and 2019 faculty counts.
3. Condition of Education 2020
Recently, the annual Condition of Education 2020 was released, summarizing the latest data from NCES and other sources on education in the United States. The report can be found on the NCES publications site at: https://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=2020144
2. Recent Data Updates
Registration emails for the 2020-21 IPEDS collection year were sent on Wednesday August 5, 2020, to existing Keyholders and Coordinators. If you are an existing Keyholder and did not receive the registration email from ipedshelp@rti.org, please contact the IPEDS Help Desk.
