OMB Approval Received for Proposed IPEDS Changes

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has approved clearance for the IPEDS 2016-17, 2017-18, and 2018-19 data collections. Details on the changes can be found in the Data Collection System under the “help” menu, as well as: https://surveys.nces.ed.gov/ipeds/ViewContent.aspx?contentId=17.

TRP Suggestions Posted

Suggestions from the most recent meeting of the IPEDS Technical Review Panel are posted at https://edsurveys.rti.org/IPEDS_TRP/Default.aspx and are currently open for comment. Suggestions are from Technical Review Panel #49, “The Public Face of IPEDS: Web Tools and Publications” that was held July 12 and 13, 2016, in Washington DC. Comments from interested parties should be sent to Janice Kelly-Reid, IPEDS Project Director at RTI International, at ipedsTRPcomment@rti.org, and are due by September 19, 2016.

College Navigator Updated

College Navigator (http://nces.ed.gov/collegenavigator/) has recently been updated to include a portion of the data reported to IPEDS during 2015-16. The recent update includes enrollment from fall 2015, retention rates, student-to-faculty ratios, and data on instructional staff.

Fall 2015 Preliminary Data Released

A First Look report on Postsecondary Institutions and Price of Attendance in 2015-16; Degrees and Other Awards Conferred: 2014-15; and 12-Month Enrollment: 2014-15 (Preliminary Data) was released in July, and the data are available from the Use the Data portal: http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/Home/UseTheData . The release included Institutional Characteristics for the 2015-16 academic year and Completions and 12-Month Enrollment covering the period July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2015.
