The eighth section of SSOCS, entitled "Disciplinary Problems and Actions," asks about the degree to which schools face a variety of disciplinary problems and their response. School administrators were asked about the availability and use of a number of disciplinary actions, as well as the use of disciplinary actions including removals from school, transfers, and out-of-school suspensions for specified offenses. The data provided by this section will be helpful in assessing the impact of schools’ control of lesser violations, as well as providing another measure of the disciplinary measures used in U.S. schools.
