| 1 District poverty was determined by ranking school districts by the percentage of enrolled children ages 5–17 whose families’ incomes were below the poverty threshold, and then dividing these districts into five categories with equal proportions of the total enrollment in each category. The low-poverty district category consists of the 20 percent of students in the districts with the lowest percentages of poor school-age children. Conversely, the high-poverty district category consists of the 20 percent of students in the districts with the highest percentages of poor school-age children. | |||||||||||
| NOTE: Current expenditures include instruction, support services, food services, and enterprise operations. Total expenditures include current expenditures, capital outlay, and interest on debt. Expenditures by locale include school districts with missing data on poverty level. Data are not adjusted for cost of living differences.
