The current schedule for PIRLS 2011 is as follows:
- Spring 2011: data collection in schools across the United States
- Summer 2011: data scoring and coding
- Fall 2011: initial data submission to the IEA
- Winter 2011: data review and cleaning
- Spring 2012: data calibration, scaling, and weighting
- Summer 2012: data review by participating countries
- December 2012: data release
