Excludes tertiary-type B (vocational) programs.
Year of reference 2008.
Excludes advanced research programs.
Science includes data for life sciences, physical sciences, mathematics and statistics, and computing.
Foreign students are defined on the basis of their country of citizenship; these data are provided as substitutes for those countries which did not have data on international students. These data are not comparable with data on international students and are therefore presented separately in the table.
NOTE: Tertiary programs refer to post-secondary education and include both higher and vocational education/training. International enrollment constitutes the number of non-citizens studying in a country. Foreign enrollment constitutes the number of a country's citizens who are studying abroad in another country. Humanities, arts and education includes the total percentage of data in the columns for education and humanities and arts. Science includes the total percentage of data in the columns for life sciences, physical sciences, mathematics and statistics, and computing. The following columns add to 100 percent: humanities; arts and education; health and welfare; social sciences, business and law; services; engineering, manufacturing and construction; science; agriculture; not known or unspecified. Apparent differences may not be statistically significant.
