| NOTE: Tertiary-type B education refers to vocational higher education. Tertiary-type A education refers to academic higher education below the doctoral level. The terms “government dependent” and “independent” refer only to a private institution's degree of dependence on funding from government sources; they do not refer to the degree of government direction or regulation. A government-dependent private institution is one that receives more than 50% of its core funding from government agencies, whereas an independent private institution is one that receives less than 50% of its core funding from government agencies. See Annex 3 of Education at a Glance: OECD Indicators 2009 for more detailed notes by country. Apparent differences may not be statistically significant. Detail may not sum to totals because of rounding. | |||||||||||||||
