When and where were the data collected?

ALL measured the literacy and numeracy skills of adults in participating countries in two rounds:  first, in 2003 and then again between 2006 and 2008.  Six countries participated in the first round (Bermuda, Canada, Italy, Norway, Switzerland, and the United States) as well as one Mexican state (Nuevo Leon).  Four countries participated in the second round (Australia, Hungary, Netherlands, and New Zealand).

In the United States, data collection for the main study took place between January and June 2003.
