NCES 2014025 Technical Report and User Guide for the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2012
The Technical Report and User Guide for the PISA 2012 is a technical manual that describes how the U.S. data were collected and processed as well as how to use the data files to conduct statistical analyses. Information is presented on sampling, response rates, school and student recruitment, instrument development and distribution, and data management. The appendices of the Technical Report and User Guide include school recruitment materials, student and parent materials, student and school questionnaires, and a nonresponse bias analysis of PISA 2012 U.S. data.

NCES 2014902 Out-of-Pocket Net Price for College
This Data Point uses data from four administrations of the National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS:2000, NPSAS:04, NPSAS:08, and NPSAS:12) to briefly present trends in out-of-pocket net price for college, the amount that students and their families must pay to attend college after subtracting grants, loans, work-study, and all other student aid from the total price of attendance. It also presents out-of-pocket net price by income levels for the most recent data available (2011-12). For comparability, findings are presented for undergraduates attending full time for a full year and also trends are presented separately for key institution types (public 2-year, public 4-year, private nonprofit 4-year, and for-profit institutions).

NCES 2014020 Public-Use Data Files and Documentation (PEQIS 19): Services and Support Programs for Military Service Members and Veterans, 2012-13
This file contains data from a quick-response survey titled "Services and Support Programs for Military Service Members and Veterans, 2012-13." The survey was designed to provide descriptive national data on the prevalence and characteristics of services and support programs offered to all military service members and veterans enrolled for credit at postsecondary institutions in the United States, as well as dependents receiving military or veteran’s financial education benefits. For this survey, military service members and veterans refers to active-duty service members, reservists, members of the National Guard, and veterans. NCES released the results of the survey in the publication “Services and Support Programs for Military Service Members and Veterans at Postsecondary Institutions, 2012-13” (NCES 2014–017).

Questionnaires were mailed to the PEQIS institutions in early June 2013. Institutions were told that the survey was designed to be completed by the person(s) most knowledgeable about services and programs for military service members and veterans at the institution. Respondents had the option of completing the survey online. Telephone follow-up of nonrespondents was initiated in July 2013; data collection and clarification were completed in September 2013. The response rates were 93 percent unweighted and 90 percent weighted.

The survey covered customized support services such as academic support/tutoring, career planning/services, and mental health counseling; availability of mentoring programs; customization of admissions and orientation activities; availability of Veterans Affairs (VA) work-study opportunities; and tutorial assistance using VA educational benefits. Other topics included institutions’ policies for charging veterans in-state tuition, course offerings specifically for military service members and veterans, and availability of training for postsecondary staff members on issues specific to veterans and service members. The survey also collected information about the number and type of students enrolled, and the number and type of dependents enrolled who received military or veteran’s financial education benefits.

NCES 2014018 Public-Use Data Files and Documentation (FRSS 105): Condition of Public School Facilities: 2012-13
This file contains data from a fast-response survey titled "Condition of Public School Facilities: 2012-13." This survey was designed to provide national estimates on the condition of public school facilities in the 2012-13 school year. NCES released the results of this survey in the First Look report “Condition of America’s Public School Facilities: 2012-13” (NCES 2014-022).

Questionnaires and cover letters were mailed in January 2013. While individual schools were sampled, the questionnaires were mailed to the districts with which the schools were associated. A separate questionnaire was enclosed for each sampled school. The cover letter indicated that the survey was designed to be completed by district-level personnel who were very familiar with the school facilities in the district. Often this was a district facilities coordinator (although the title of the position varied). The letter indicated that the respondent might want to consult with other district-level personnel or with school-level personnel, such as the principal of the sampled school, in answering some of the questions. Respondents were offered the option of completing the survey via the Web. Telephone follow-up for survey nonresponse and data clarification was initiated in February 2013 and completed in June 2013. The weighted response rate was 90 percent.

Respondents reported on the condition of 17 building systems/features and seven outdoor features. Data on the estimated total cost of all repairs/renovations/modernizations required to put the school’s onsite buildings in good overall condition were also collected. Other survey topics included the year in which the school’s main instructional building was constructed, and whether any major repair/renovation/modernization work was currently being performed. Respondents also reported whether various steps had been taken in the last 5 years to improve energy efficiency at the school.

NCES 2014003 New College Graduates at Work: Employment Among 1992–93, 1999–2000, and 2007–08 Bachelor’s Degree Recipients 1 Year After Graduation
This Statistics in Brief investigates the employment outcomes of college graduates 1 year after earning a bachelor’s degree using nationally representative data collected in three administrations of the Baccalaureate and Beyond Longitudinal Study. The Brief first examines the overall employment and enrollment status of all college graduates 1 year after earning a bachelor’s degree and then offers detailed information on key aspects of employment, including employment intensity (whether employed full time, part time, or in multiple jobs), occupation, and salary of those who were employed and not enrolled 1 year after graduation. The analysis indicates that employment outcomes vary for male and female graduates, and by age group, race/ethnicity, and undergraduate major field of study.

NCES 2014051 Projections of Education Statistics to 2022
This publication provides projections for key education statistics. It includes statistics on enrollment, graduates, teachers, and expenditures in elementary and secondary schools, and enrollment and earned degrees conferred expenditures of degree-granting institutions. For the Nation, the tables, figures, and text contain data on enrollment, teachers, graduates, and expenditures for the past 14 years and projections to the year 2022. For the 50 States and the District of Columbia, the tables, figures, and text contain data on projections of public elementary and secondary enrollment and public high school graduates to the year 2022. In addition, the report includes a methodology section describing models and assumptions used to develop national and state-level projections.
