NOTE: Data shown include public and private institutions, with calculations based on number of students and number of classes. In order to ensure comparability among countries, the data include only regular programs at the primary level of education; special needs programs have been excluded from the calculation. Education levels are defined according to the 1997 International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED97). Primary education refers to ISCED97 level 1. For more information on the ISCED97 levels, see appendix A in this report.
