6 U.S. totals include the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
7 Value affected by redistribution of reported values to correct for missing data items, and/or to distribute state direct support expenditures.
8 Both the District of Columbia and Hawaii have only one school district each; therefore, neither is comparable to other states.
