NOTE: Data include all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, four outlying areas (American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands), the Bureau of Indian Education, and the Department of Defense dependents schools (overseas and domestic). This table reports numbers of schools and percentages of students. For example, in New York City Public Schools, 22 schools reported 20 percent or fewer of their students as Black, Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander, or American Indian/Alaska Native. Across the entire district, 85.8 percent of students were Black, non-Hispanic, Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander, or American Indian/Alaska Native. Black includes African American and Hispanic includes Latino.
